2009

The NRA MONTHLY TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE for 2009 has been approved. The matches will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month.

These monthly matches are sponsored by the Watauga Gun Club. The club is located in Boone, North Carolina. From Hwy 421, turn onto Hwy 194 North. Go 3.0 miles and turn right onto Castle Ford Road. Go 1.5 miles and turn left onto Appaloosa Trail. Cross the bridge and turn right onto Gun Club Road.

These matches are open to the public. Match fee is $15.00 for adults. Jr. shooters 16 years old and younger fee is $5.00 (Must be accompanied by an adult).

Entries will be accepted to range capacity with a cutoff time of 9:00 AM the morning of the match. Registration will begin on the 200 yard line at 8:30 AM. First round down range at 9:00 AM .

All matches will be 800 agg. and we plan to continue having the 20 shot any/any side match after the regular match.

NRA MATCH AND SERVICE Rifles have the option of using OPTICAL SIGHTS and will be permitted in the XTC matches, and for the first time, will be submitted to the NRA for classification.

NRA rules will be observed and enforced. The course of fire will be a Modified “National Match Course”. A five minute sighting in period will be given at the 200 and 300 yard lines. No sighters will be given between the 300 RF and 600 SF stages. However, this may be modified by the match director on a match by match basis. The matches will be 80 shots total consisting of 20 shots OH and two strings of 10 rounds RF at 200, two strings of 10 rounds at 300, and 20 shots prone slow fire at 300 on the simulated 600 yd target.

NRA Classification will be used. Un-classified shooters will be placed in Master class for their first match and issued a temporary score booklet for future temporary classification.

The Watauga Gun Club has full facilities and several camping sites available. Call for more information. Prior to each day’s activities, a simple ceremony is held to celebrate our freedoms as Americans. Alcoholic beverages and any other form of intoxicant will not be allowed or tolerated on the gun club property during High Power activities.

The matches for April, June, and August will be 80 shot total; 20 shots OH at 200 yards, 20 shots RF at 200 yards, 20 shots RF at 300 yards, and 20 shots Prone at 300 yards.
