A more detailed description of each match is available in the Members Handbook.

The Watauga Gun Club Range Officer conducts ten club matches during the year starting about 5:00 PM preceding the monthly club meeting. All ten of these matches are counted toward the Shooter of the Year Award but the three lowest scores are dropped from consideration. This allows a member to miss up to 3 matches and still be eligible for the Shooter of the Year Award. During these club matches no other shooting on any other range is allowed.

The Monthly Club Matches are open to all members, applicants, and guests, although only the scores of members are counted toward the Shooter of the Year trophy. Each match ranks shooters by raw score for the First, Second, or Third place trophies. Shooters participating in all ten matches receive an award for such.

The shooter participating in all Shooter of the Year matches and having the highest adjusted score is awarded the coveted Shooter of the Year Award.
